![]() I can't believe we're already on our last week of My Pumpkin Challenge #0415-Sew, Pretty, Sew Simple! And for my final offering with this challenge, I'm going to try it out matched with the sophisticated color challenge at this week's In{k}spire Me #195! And look at that, I managed to get in another retiring set - yay! Today I'm bringing out Happy Hour - it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right? It was fun to play with all the itty bitty bits and pieces on this one - why oh why haven't I been doing this all along? Hint: For the heavy Tangelo Twist baker's twine, I split out one "batt" for stitching, to cut down the bulk - and I still have 2 plies left! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Happy Hour Stamp Set; Smoky Slate, Basic Black & Pistachio Pudding CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate, Tangelo Twist & Pistachio Pudding Inks; Tangelo Twist Heavy Baker's Twine (SAB 2015); Snowflake Card Thinlet; Banner Punch; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. ![]() Pumpkin Club May 2! ![]() Oh gosh - did you SEE this week's Retro Sketch #161? I'm totally going to have to do a Pumpkin extra, lol! And since I'm going off the rez, anyway... Yeah, I don't know exactly why I'm so fascinated this week by the Calling All Heros set! I think it's that I love the concept of the mix-and-match faces, like those flip books for little kids? And of course, I love this alphabet! I've started a little sheet of fun heroic phrases to use with it, lol - blammo! Not sure why I went all She-Hulk on this one, either - just felt green today, I guess... I can't WAIT for Age of Ultron! Can you tell? Calling All Heroes Stamp Set; Sew Simple Paper Pumpkin; Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP; Pistachio Pudding, Old Olive, Mellow Moss & Daffodil Delight CS; Pear Pizzazz, Mellow Moss & Daffodil Delight Inks; Itty Bitty Star Accent & Banner Punches (for sentiment); Stars Decorative Mask (on envelope.) ![]() Pumpkin Club May 2! Let's see what we can do with adding in this week's sketch from In{k}spire Me #194, too! I had "sew" much fun last week making a Christmas card, I decided to try hitting another event. This week it's Mother's Day, with a little help from the Crazy About You stamp set. I truly believe that set is the perfect partner with this month's Paper Pumpkin! I decided to go with some of my fave colors together, and then found a perle cotton from my stash to match. (For those interested, this is UKI's 5/2 Melon #107! I always seem to gravitate to the "food" colors, lol.) I doubled it to make the stitching pretty robust, and broke out the rest of the sentiment onto banners to match the sketch. I added a bit more depth to my flower by alternating full and stamped-off layers - snippy-snippy today! Tip: Check out the masking on the envelope - SO much easier when we have a punch, lol! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Crazy About You Stamp Set; Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Calypso Coral & Pear Pizzazz Inks; 5/2 Perle Cotton in Melon; Flower Medallion, Banner & Corner Rounder Punches; Basic Jewel Jumbo Pearls (retired.) April 21-June 2, 2015 (or while supplies last)
We're saying goodbye to retiring products from the 2014-2015 annual catalog, but before we do, we're giving everyone an opportunity to order their favorites with discounts up to 50 percent off retail. Retiring products will only be available until June 2, or while supplies last, so now's a great time to get them before they're gone! We're also including the My Digital Studio list, with all products discounted 30 percent off retail. *Note: Due to high demand for retiring stamps, we'll keep producing retiring stamps until May 26 (not accessories-accessories are only while supplies last). ![]() Yay! Time for another round of My Pumpkin Challenge #0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! Let's try something REALLY different, shall we? So, I was cruising the Paper Pumpkin Pinterest Board, and a lot of ca-UTE samples have hit the Sew You page this week! I was so inspired! I decided to go Christmas! I was able to piece together "A Merry Little Wish For" to go with our lovely punched "You," and I did my stitching in green Perle cotton. I played with coloring in my card front stripes, too, though I think it looks a tad streaky. I dressed up the "O" in "You" by adding some whip stitching in red. Fun! This card is what my husband calls "gray on gray" for him - poor guy is red-green color blind, lol... I'm loving all the samples shared at My Pumpkin Challenge - keep up the great work! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Festival of Trees Stamp Set; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Real Red & Old Olive Inks; Red & Green 5/2 Perle Cotton; Tree Punch; Brights Button in Old Olive. ![]() Now we can get our pumpkin started with this month's My Pumpkin Challenge 0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! I think it'll be fun to match with this week's fancy sketch at In{k}spire Me #192! I had to rotate the sketch to make this work out, of course, but still, it seems to have worked out pretty well! I only added a couple accessories from outside the Pumpkin Kit, and I did go shopping for an alternate sentiment. Fun times! The biggest challenge I'm finding in this kit is how to dress the envelopes - on this card, I embossed the flap with some dots to accompany the dotted background of my "salvaged" card base, lol... Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Peachy Keen Stamp Set; Daffodil Delight, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Pool Party Ruffle Ribbon; Subtles Buttons in Pool Party; Snowflake Card Thinlet; Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. ![]() Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! This month we will be making a beautiful corsage for that special lady in your life: Mom, BFF, inspiration in your life (maybe even yourself - you deserve it!) - to wear again and again. The corsage is made up with a sample of each flower type in the gorgeous Build A Bouquet Project kit from our Occasions Mini catalog, and comes with a hat pin and stopper for fixing in place. I have prepped each kit for us, and divvied everything out ahead of time to make this class ride on rails: I'll be working right along with you to help further explain all the tricks I learned along the way! Class is still on for Saturday, April 11, 3 pm, chez Heroldt. Class is $20, and includes all supplies and instructions, plus snacks, drinks and a gift! Just bring your usual kit, and a hot glue gun! RSVP now so I can make sure to have your supplies prepped and ready for you! (And be sure to let me know if you need different dates - I'm always happy to work with your schedule!) ![]() Even though we're taking a much-needed breather at My Pumpkin Challenge this week, I still think of this as Pumpkin Wednesday, lol! And what better way to show off our Pumpkins than by hooking up with this week's Retro Sketch #158?? So, I even decided to keep a square card base to go with the sketch, which, in my opinion, also pairs perfectly with the elements of Sew You! I started with a layer from one of our card base choices in the Pumpkin Kit, then used one of the sewing cards to trace the curve called for in my blue layer. I used that same punched piece as a template to pierce the "you" onto a piece of Daffodil Delight, which I then stitched with our white Baker's Twine instead of the yellow floss from the kit. It's like it all just fell into place! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; White Baker's Twine; Pool Party Ink (on envelope); Star Punch (to flag sentiment.) ![]() Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! Time for me to bring out the punches! I can't help but feel like these cute little boxes really lend themselves to little gift sets, for just because. You know? This week it's a little box 'o tags, lol, so I can show off all my tag topper punches! I had quite the time finding sentiments to accompany all the letters, too, so FUN! You all thought I'd get stuck on the "K," didn't you? Hah! Not only did I find a sentiment, it's even a Pumpkin stamp! Take that, alphabet nazis! And actually, the "N" was harder - I had to pick between two, lol... So, bring on the Pumpkin layers, gang! Can't wait to see what you've created! This week, I decided I need to make something new and cute for my hall table, which will be rolling over to Easter decor soon. How about a cute little stand-up banner? Good times! I knew I wanted to incorporate the lovely Best Year Ever DSP and ribbon, so my color choices were easy once I made that decision. I've also recently realized I haven't been inking up the fascinating What's Your Type stamp set either, and I figured the banner would give me PLENTY of room for letters made that way - Love it! I squeezed in one little word from Crazy About You, and then realized that one of the DSP patterns goes perfectly with my "type," so I had to add a little garland of that, too! Can't wait to see your Pumpkins - come join us! I decided today I wanted to make a mini version of some kind of fancy fold. I did a bit of searching, and found this idea at Path of Paper. Cute window! I decided to try that with my Pumpkin and some Sale-A-Bration goodies and see how it went. I actually love how this little cutie came out! I can see this propped open on someone's desk brightening their day, for sure! I added a ribbon tie around the cover since I went a little crazy with the layers, and it doesn't want to close very naturally, lol. It all fits in my little home-made envelope, though - yes! So do you have some pretty folds for us this week? Can't wait to see! RSVP to reserve your kit today! ![]() I am SUPER excited about this month's theme at My Pumpkin Challenge #0315 - Folds, Punches & Fun! For my first offering, I couldn't quite turn off my fascination for what I call the "giraffe stamp" in our Layers of Gratitude kit. It's such a little thing, and it interlocks so beautifully for a whimsical background - I just couldn't stop! Since I just got a roll of the sparkly Bermuda Bay sequin trim, I decided to go with that color for my stamping, too. The sturdy felt letters from the kit squeezed into place, and contrast just how I hoped with the Bermuda Bay. I guess this is how I bring on the FUN!! Can't wait to see all your lovely creations - be there or be Pumpkin! Paper Pumpkin - Layers of Gratitude; plus, Whisper White CS and Envelope; Bermuda Bay Ink; Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim. |
